History
The ‘Koombahla gum’ is located on the property “Koombahla Vineyard”. The property was named after this majestic tree by the current owner’s father, Guy Darling who was a pioneer of the grape growing industry in the King Valley. Guy believed that ‘Koombahla” was one of the indigenous names for this type of tree.
Notes
Neville Walsh, a prominent botanist of the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne, believes that the height of this tree (40m) is outstanding as it is rarely reported above 25 m.
