Statement of Significance
An outstanding specimen of immense size and form. The plaque states "One of the first trees known to be planted in The Basin as an acorn by William and Kate Chandler soon after they settled here in 1873, having arrived from England in 1851". The tree is still healthy and looks in good condition. Has been cabled to support the weight of it's branches.
