Statement of Significance
This tree is of Regional significance for its outstanding age, its location/context values, and as an outstanding example of its species.
The tree is an outstanding mature example of this species in good health, structural condition and form.
It is a particularly old specimen.
Due to its old age and form, the tree is unusual in its location having been retained within a school complex.
History
This is a very large and mature example of Eucalyptus obliqua.
The exact origins of the tree are unknown but as E. obliqua is indigenous to the local area, it is possibly remnant vegetation.
The tree has experienced multiple branch failures possibly due to strong winds rather than as a result of structural defects. These branch failures have occurred part the way along the length of the branch, rather than at the union.
Location
Located in the grounds of the Gordon Primary School on the other side of the sports oval.
