Statement of Significance
The Big Tree is one of the tallest hardwood trees in Tasmania and internationally. In 2001 it was measured at 86 metres tall.
Notes
As the tree ages its height has steadily declined from 1957 when it was measured as being 98 metres tall to 86 metres tall in 2001. As a consequence the tree has been surpassed by a number of other trees in the Styx Valley
