Statement of Significance
An unusual and rarely cultivated tree, native in northernmost South Australia to the Alberga River system, planted by John Zwar in 1975. It is of scientific significance, being the only deciduous native tree in South Australia. Its bright-orange-red bean-like seeds made into necklaces and ornaments were traded by the Aboriginals, who also valued its light spongy timber.
