Statement of Significance

Although not the largest known, it is one of the oldest known River box, certainly large and has significance to the local community as possibly the marker of a flood, greater than the 1956 flood, postulated to have occurred in the 1780s.This date was proposed by D B Mack by extrapolating back from known floods and tree diameters associated with these.
