Statement of Significance
The figs are outstanding examples of their species. They are an important part of the World Heritage listed rainforest of far north Queensland and makes an important contribution to the landscape of the historic tourist town of Kuranda as is an important landmark there. They have contemporary association with the town and its community and are an important tourist asset for the area. They are of high aesthetic value.
History
The figs form an important part of Kuranda town centre which has been a world-famous holiday destination for over 100 years with its proximity to the Great Barrier Reef, its picturesque vistas, the majestic Barron Falls and its relaxed atmosphere.
